E. Algorithm and software checks  ·  Preparing basic loads

Two forces act in global Y at the same node: +8.0 N and −3.0 N. A member carries uniform weight of 1.25 N/m in global Z. Another node has an imposed displacement of −0.02 m in Z. Before solution, does load preparation add the forces and retain weight and displacement as separate contributions?

This case tests load preparation rather than structural response.

This page preserves a recorded benchmark and its expected values. The dated run below is not a new run of the current product.

This benchmark tests input preparation without solving a model. The current ordinary preview refuses legacy imposed displacement. Explicit rigid boundary motions belong to the load/reference-state route.

1.Inputs.

Illustrative values, taken from no standard and chosen so the arithmetic can be followed by hand. Most do not describe a real pipe; read them in any consistent set of units.

QuantitySymbolValue
Node 1, global Y load A—8.0 N
Node 1, global Y load B—−3.0 N
Element 0, global Z weightw1.25 N/m
Node 2, imposed displacement in Zuz−0.02 m

2.Method.

Forces at the same node and in the same direction add. The element weight and the imposed displacement are different kinds of input and pass through unchanged.

Fy = 8.0 + (−3.0) = 5.0 N(1)

3.Results.

Prepared contributions
QuantityExpected
Node 1 force in global Y5.0 N
Element uniform weight1.25 N/m
Node 2 imposed displacement in Z−0.02 m

The case record describes these checks:

  • Load preparation completes without blocking.
  • It records two nodal loads, one element uniform load and one imposed displacement.
  • The global load vector at node 1 in Y matches the summed force.
  • The weight intensity and the imposed displacement pass through with their values unchanged.

What it shows. Checks the loads or boundary conditions prepared for the solver against a hand calculation. No system is solved.

Path exercised. Primitive load preparation only. No frame system is solved.

Agreement. Each computed value must match the reference within an absolute difference of 1.0 × 10−9 in the case’s own units. Counts and structural outcomes must match exactly. Long values are shown here to seven significant figures; the tests compare the full values in the record.

4.Recorded command.

This command belongs to the linked case record and its recorded execution path. This website update did not rerun it. A historical command or result does not establish current product support.
